Just Getting Started, of 2017, is the second actor-director collaboration between Rene Russo and Ron Shelton (the first one was the movie Tin Cup, where Ms. Russo portrayed Molly Griswold). According to this talented actress, "Ron Shelton writes really strong women, but he always gives them a flavor.  I think he likes just a little bit of unpredictability. They’re totally together, but I love that he says they’re either hanging by a thread, or there’s a problem they’re trying to get through, so you get to see them get through it. It’s always exciting because it’s not one-dimensional. I love that about Ron. He’s so good. He’s such a good romantic comedy writer, and I love that he writes complicated women."

What we most adore from this movie is that Suzie Quince, in the movie, she's always with her dog co-star, Romeo. For me, I can see every person with their dog or mascot on TV, but rarely on movies. But for Rene, there was only one difficult scene with this cute dog, where she was kidnapped by the thieves (that happened almost in the end of the film).

And also, for Rene Russo, working with Tommy Lee Jones and Morgan Freeman, who worked with the last one previously on Outbreak, by Wolfgang Petersen, in 1995, was kind of cool. 

"They’re completely different, but they were both funny. Tommy’s funny was interior funny. Morgan’s funny was broad comedy that was just bigger. They were perfectly matched, in that way. They held their own. They’re both so strong. They’re equally as strong. I had no idea that that was what was gonna happen. When you get two actors together, you don’t know what the chemistry is gonna be. As I was watching them, I thought, “Oh, they have really good chemistry together.” I thought their chemistry was really good."

Their competition extends to a rivalry over Suzie Quince (Rene Russo), the regional director of the resort chain. During the competitions Duke's life is put in danger multiple times and he realizes that the mafia has found him and is attempting to kill him. Duke and Leo must work together to defeat the mafia and save Duke's life during the Christmas season at Villa Capri.
At the end, after Suzie is rescued from the mafia, she, Duke and Leo end happily together.

Fun Facts about the Movie:

• The original title was called Villa Capri, until September 2017, when the film was retitled to Just Getting Started.
• And it's the second time Rene Russo worked together with Morgan Freeman, the first was in Outbreak (1995). And it was also the second time Rene worked together with Ron Shelton, the first time was in Tin Cup (1996).
• Just Getting Started was Ron Shelton's comeback movie since Hollywood Homicide, of 2003 (starring Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett).
• Rene Russo said about Tommy Lee Jones and Morgan Freeman in US programme Today Show, "I was intimidated by these two at first!"
• Even though the movie was appreciated by the public, it was panned by the critics.

Known as doing action and comedy movies, Rene Russo did her first suspense movie in November 1996, with Ransom. Kate Mullen is the most emotionally distressing role in Ms. Russo's acting career... and also reunited her with Mel Gibson, in which both played wealthy parents and their son was abducted and held for ransom.

"Here's the funny thing about Mel. When [my character] found out that my kid was missing — I didn't know how I was going to get there [emotionally]. So I got in whatever [emotional] space I was supposed to be in. Mel's the kind of person who turns it on and turns it off. Literally he is burping before action, and then he goes immediately [into] this horrific scene. And then about the second take, Mel came over and he said to me, 'You know, you're not going to last all day doing it that way.' And I went, Wow, he's right.

So I don't know. It's different for everybody. There were a couple scenes in that film where I did have to go off and stay in a particular space. But Mel did teach me something, too. Mel is one of those actors who can just be in an unbelievable dramatic scene, and just come out of it and telling jokes. And you know what, he feels both emotions. 
I mean, Mel feels it when he's there. He goes to those dark places for real, and maybe he doesn't want to stay there too long. But some actors, they're method, and they stay there. They stay there all day. I couldn't do that. I'm more like, let's get the job done.”

Rene Russo Fanpage News: Rene Russo revealed in First Official Image of "Velvet Buzzsaw"

The years pass by, and Rene Russo still is a chic and beautiful actress!! From the upcoming film Velvet Buzzsaw, directed by Dan Gilroy, it's a Nightcrawler reunion in the first image. And it was just announced in the lineup at the 2019 Sundance Festival and we're just.... excited !!!!

It is described as a thriller set in the contemporary art world scene of Los Angeles, “where big money artists and mega-collectors pay a high price when art collides with commerce.” The film was produced by Netflix and will debut on the streaming service at some point next year. 

We can't wait to watch this movie!!!

Plot Summary: The movie begins when the multimillionaire Tom Mullen (Mel Gibson) hosts a party in his NYC apartment along with his wife Kate (Rene Russo), Sean (Brawley Nolte) and some friends. At the same some kidnappers preparing the hostage in their lair.
Later, the Mullen family attend the Science fair in Central Park, where Kate is the judge. During this scene Tom's son Sean wanders away and although not shown, he is snatched and put in a white van. Tom and Kate quickly realize their son is missing and frantically begin to search for him. Then they realized that Sean was kidnapped by Jimmy Shaker (Gary Sinise, great in Apollo 13 and CSI: NY) and he demands a ransom US$2 million for the kid's return.

Despite Lonnie and Kate's advice, Tom, to everyone's astonishment, appears on the TV news and unexpectedly turns the tables on the kidnappers' leader, by offering his $2 million dollar ransom for his head. This step changes the kidnapper's plans, when Mr. Mullen said that Shaker won't pay the ransom. And soon the consequences happen... 

In one of the scenes, a note is made addressing Kate, with the stipulation that she appear at a renovated Church at 2am without her husband's knowledge. Kate goes, but is soon beaten by Jimmy, who has his face masked. Jimmy threatens to gut Sean unless his ransom demands are met, and leaves Kate shaken, along with Sean's shirt covered in blood stains.

Shaker later pays Tom a visit to claim the reward and leave the country before investigators discover his connection with Maris. Tom and Sean, however, recognize Shaker as the kidnapper, and Shaker realizes this. Though his initial plan is to kill everyone in the apartment, Tom persuades him to accompany him to the bank to gain the money and leave peacefully. On the way, however, Tom discreetly alerts Hawkins and the police and FBI converge on Tom and Shaker outside the bank.

As soon as Tom and Shaker exit the bank, two officers (who greeted Shaker and Tom before entering the bank) inform Shaker that he is going to be detained, causing Shaker to shoot them down before Tom knocks him to the ground after which a chase ensues in which Tom and Shaker grapple furiously before falling through a shop window, severely injuring both and impaling Shaker through the neck. Tom picks up a hidden pistol (that Shaker pulled out during the scuffle) and points at Shaker before Hawkins and other police officers keep demanding that he drop the gun and walk away. 

In desperation, Shaker draws another hidden gun but is shot dead by Tom and Hawkins, leaving the villain with lots of blood (like Robert De Niro, in Taxi Driver). Tom finally drops the gun and police rush in to arrest Tom, but Hawkins tells them to hold allowing Tom and Kate to leave the scene.

• It's the second movie Mel Gibson and Rene Russo work together; they also work together in Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) and later, in Lethal Weapon 4 (1998).
• There are two CSI actors working in this movie: Paul Gulifoyle, from CSI: Las Vegas (2000-2015) and Gary Sinise, from CSI: NY (2004-2013).
• It's also Donnie Wahlberg's debut in cinema, he is known for singing in the boy band New Kids on The Block.
• And also the second movie Rene Russo and Delroy Lindo work together; they worked previously on Get Shorty (1995).

Even though the jeans pants began in the 1870s, they became way popular in the 50s, all thanks to culture pop icons Marlon Brando and James Dean (they popularized this clothing item in movies). 

Talking about Ms. Russo, when she started her modeling career  with 18/19 years old, even though her first ad was in a hair shampoo ad, she was wearing beautiful jeans that highlights her gorgeous body.

After 3 years doing action movies (Freejack, Lethal Weapon 3, In the Line of Fire & Outbreak), Rene Russo is back to the comedy genre, now on Get Shorty, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (Men In Black, The Addams Family) in 1995. Ms. Russo would work again with Sonnenfeld in the movie Big Trouble, in 2002. 

Rene plays Karen Flores, a B-list movie actress and also ex-wife of Martin Weir (Danny DeVito, from Matilda). She gets mixed up with the loan shark Chilli Palmer (John Travolta), who discovers he's an ace in the movie business.

According to Ms. Russo... "She was an observer more than anything, I think, and she got the joke. Even though she was a B actress in scream flicks, I still think she was looking around her, kind of like, 'Oh god.' She was judging it, maybe in a way that I would, where I would roll my eyes at things. I get the joke. I think that's the quality that I gave to her. She didn't miss that much. Even though she was a B actress, I don't think she was desperate to be anything than what she was.

I love John. John is very, very funny. John's fun. He's really, really quirky. He loves to eat. He loves food. He'd always have great food in his trailer. He'd have great chocolates. 'Here, have a chocolate.' I loved working with him."

Chili finds his Mafioso skills lend themselves quite nicely to what he's always really wanted to do: producing movies.

• Based on a book by Elmore Leonard. Leonard said that it's the best film adapted from its books.
• When Rene Russo first met with Barry Sonnenfeld and Danny DeVito at a restaurant, she had an allergic reaction to the sesame in her tuna sandwich. She broke out in hives and had to go the doctor, sure she hadn't gotten the part. Sonnenfeld felt sympathetic, and assured her the role of Karen Flores.
• Danny DeVito was the first choice of Chilli Palmer, because of his charisma, but due to schedule conflicts, he've ended up the smaller role of Martin Weir.
• Rene Russo and Delroy Lindo would work again later, in Ransom (1996). Rene was Kate, and Delroy, Lonnie.

In Brazil, it might be summer, but in California, fall is going to be predominant season this month! So I chose the blazer for the next fashion lookbook, because it's going to be this season's trend, and also it combines with everything, from a pair of jeans to a beautiful cocktail dress. So I started with Catherine Banning, from Thomas Crown Affair (1999)... This outfit she wore when she was on the office was my favorite of the movie. Ms. Russo accompanied the blazer with a beautiful sleeveless dress (and a white men's shirt underneath the dress), besides the beautiful high-heels. It catches attention from the public, specially from men. And also, you can see, she has WONDERFUL LEGS !!! Yeahhhh baby !!!

And even in Lethal Weapon 3 (1992), she used blazers, but more than in Thomas Crown Affair. She used 3 blazers in the entire movie, but in different colors, and combining with different outfits in different occasions, such as a pencil skirt (in the beginning), a pair of jeans (like in this picture above), a shirt, a cotton vest, and a pair of pants. 

It shows lots of versatility in Rene's wardrobe, and we all love it! 

And in events, Rene's suit (along with the blazer) is one of my favorite looks.

Like I said previously on part 1 of Rene's favorite looks on Red Carpet/Movie Events... , Rene is best-dressed even with a suit, like in Ransom (1996) premiere and in Gotham awards representing Nightcrawler (2014) (see part 2 of Rene's favorite looks). In both looks she doesn't look "matchy-matchy", she thought about the look in a good way (acessories + hair + makeup). She was very, very praised, and we also looooved it !!!

CHARACTER IN FOCUS: Fiona Farwell, "The Intern" (2015)

We all know Ms. Rene Russo in great roles, such as Lorna Cole in Lethal Weapon 3 (1992), Catherine Banning in Thomas Crown Affair (1999), or even Nina Romina in Nightcrawler (2014). 

Now in The Intern (2014), Rene plays a small role, Fiona Farwell. She is the masseuse of About the Fit, the marketing company in which the movie is all set in, and in which Ben (Robert De Niro) and Jules (Anne Hathaway) work in. And even though, Ms. Russo does the role very well!

When Ms. Farwell enters massaging Mr. Ben Whittaker, it's just relaxing and wonderful, and Rene Russo never loses her beauty, as always. Her hands are just like fairy hands, always soft. "He's quiet, but he has a great sense of humor", says Ms. Russo about De Niro, working for the third time (the others were "Rocky and Bullwinkle" , in 2000, and "Showtime" in 2002).

While filming the movie, Rene's beauty caught lots of attention ! According to the British site The Daily Mail, while filming the funeral scene, Rene looked sooooo stunning in her figure-flattering knee-length frock, which featured three-quarter sleeves and a flowy A-line skirt with horizontal panels, paired with simple black pointed high-heels.

She carried a small black handbag over one shoulder and kept her accessories to a minimum, with little more than small stud earrings and two delicate gold bracelets completing her look.

She wore her long locks in tumbling loose curls, her face framed by a sideswept fringe.

Her make-up was fresh and complementary, allowing her natural beauty to shine.
