After 3 years doing action movies (Freejack, Lethal Weapon 3, In the Line of Fire & Outbreak), Rene Russo is back to the comedy genre, now on Get Shorty, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (Men In Black, The Addams Family) in 1995. Ms. Russo would work again with Sonnenfeld in the movie Big Trouble, in 2002. 

Rene plays Karen Flores, a B-list movie actress and also ex-wife of Martin Weir (Danny DeVito, from Matilda). She gets mixed up with the loan shark Chilli Palmer (John Travolta), who discovers he's an ace in the movie business.

According to Ms. Russo... "She was an observer more than anything, I think, and she got the joke. Even though she was a B actress in scream flicks, I still think she was looking around her, kind of like, 'Oh god.' She was judging it, maybe in a way that I would, where I would roll my eyes at things. I get the joke. I think that's the quality that I gave to her. She didn't miss that much. Even though she was a B actress, I don't think she was desperate to be anything than what she was.

I love John. John is very, very funny. John's fun. He's really, really quirky. He loves to eat. He loves food. He'd always have great food in his trailer. He'd have great chocolates. 'Here, have a chocolate.' I loved working with him."

Plot Summary: Chilli Palmer (John Travolta, great in Grease, Pulp Fiction & Hairspray), is a loan shark living in Miami, Florida, who works for Ray Bones (Dennis Farina), and also a violent thug with a big chip on his shoulder. The main character works for Bones since his New York boss died of a sudden heart a attack. 
Ray sends Chili to Vegas after a bad debt, and a casino boss enlists Chili to find an even bigger deadbeat: Harry Zimm (Gene Hackman), Hollywood player and producer of low-budget horror films.

In Tinseltown, Chili meets Harry, as well as his scream- queen leading lady, Karen Flores (Rene Russo); Harry's drug-dealing financier, Bo Catlett (Delroy Lindo); and Karen's ex, Martin Weir (Danny DeVito), a big star with an ego to match. Chili finds his Mafioso skills lend themselves quite nicely to what he's always really wanted to do: producing movies.

Fun Facts about the movie:

• Based on a book by Elmore Leonard. Leonard said that it's the best film adapted from its books.
• When Rene Russo first met with Barry Sonnenfeld and Danny DeVito at a restaurant, she had an allergic reaction to the sesame in her tuna sandwich. She broke out in hives and had to go the doctor, sure she hadn't gotten the part. Sonnenfeld felt sympathetic, and assured her the role of Karen Flores.
• Danny DeVito was the first choice of Chilli Palmer, because of his charisma, but due to schedule conflicts, he've ended up the smaller role of Martin Weir.
• Rene Russo and Delroy Lindo would work again later, in Ransom (1996). Rene was Kate, and Delroy, Lonnie.

Even Ms. Rene Russo had different hairstyles in different cuts and different colors... her hair signature (or trademark) is always her red hair, adopted since the movie The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), a movie we all love. And the red hair is back to fashion. And Rene Russo is also great in blonde hair.

I'll tell you some ideas of Rene's inspiring hairstyles, just to be beautiful JUST LIKE HER <3 !!!

Anna Herk, Rene's character in Big Trouble, caught lots of attention, specially by all the audience and men. She looks like a Barbie doll mixed with Marilyn Monroe. 

Here are some tips for blonde platinum hair:

Rene Russo mastered her look thanks to her textured waves and glowing highlights that matched the star's look. She also used this hairstyle in the Academy Awards 2015, making her look sexy and beautiful (and even in her 60s!) .

Another hairstyle I love is Rene's retro-chic ponytail, and it fits for any occasion, and it pairs sleek, runway elements with beachy, summer vibes for a perfectly un-done final look! She looks so lovely, like a beautiful, young girl...

... And finally, we love Rene Russo/Catherine Banning's hair in Thomas Crown Affair (1999). Everyone just want to have her hair one day.... or right now!!! (lol!!!) For her character, Rene went to Beth Minardi Salon in New York City, and Beth (the colorist) started by darkening Russo's hair with a red base. Then she added subtle blond highlights. It was such a great success, until today !

Rene Russo's Fashion Lookbook: Blazers Just Want To Have Fun!

In Brazil, it might be summer, but in California, fall is going to be predominant season this month! So I chose the blazer for the next fashion lookbook, because it's going to be this season's trend, and also it combines with everything, from a pair of jeans to a beautiful cocktail dress. Rene fits well in a beautiful blazer, even in movies or in fashion/movie events!

Here are some cool ideas!

So I started with Catherine Banning, from Thomas Crown Affair (1999)... This outfit she wore when she was on the office was my favorite of the movie. Ms. Russo accompanied the blazer with a beautiful sleeveless dress (and a white men's shirt underneath the dress), besides the beautiful high-heels. It catches attention from the public, specially from men. And also, you can see, she has WONDERFUL LEGS !!! Yeahhhh baby !!!

And even in Lethal Weapon 3 (1992), she used blazers, but more than in Thomas Crown Affair. She used 3 blazers in the entire movie, but in different colors, and combining with different outfits in different occasions, such as a pencil skirt (in the beginning), a pair of jeans (like in this picture above), a shirt, a cotton vest, and a pair of pants. 

It shows lots of versatility in Rene's wardrobe, and we all love it! 

And in events, Rene's suit (along with the blazer) is one of my favorite looks.

Like I said previously on part 1 of Rene's favorite looks on Red Carpet/Movie Events... , Rene is best-dressed even with a suit, like in Ransom (1996) premiere and in Gotham awards representing Nightcrawler (2014) (see part 2 of Rene's favorite looks). In both looks she doesn't look "matchy-matchy", she thought about the look in a good way (acessories + hair + makeup). She was very, very praised, and we also looooved it !!!
